| KIS at Novell's Brainshare 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah |
FREMONT, CALIF. -March 3rd, 2008 - KIS, the leading provider of information technology consulting and solutions, announced their participation in Novell's BrainShare 2008 Conference. Allan Hurst, KIS’ Technical Principal and Director of Linux Strategy, will present four sessions total at BrainShare 2008. "As the Novell technology focus has moved to Linux, our customers need information on migrating to Linux. As a Novell Platinum Partner, we feel it's important to share this information with the rest of the Novell community, to encourage people to not be afraid of Linux." Session topics include "TUT102: Demystifying DNS" and TUT103: "Preparing for Migrations Without Tears". Both of these sessions started as interactive workshops for NOBUG (Novell Oakland Bayarea Users Group), the NUI (Novell Users International) chapter for the San Francisco Bay Area. As such, the sessions retain a playful tone, making complex technical material easily understandable. Allan is especially pleased to debut the session "TUT103: Preparing for Migrations Without Tears," which is subtitled "Migrating to Open Enterprise Server without driving yourself crazy." "This is a brand-new session written specifically to address common problems encountered by Novell administrators facing server migrations and consolidations to a Linux platform." The response to session "TUT102: Demystifying DNS" doesn't surprise Allan. "This particular session has been updated and presented for several years, showing that there are still plenty of people who are intimidated by Domain Name Services (DNS). Every year, this session consistently draws positive comments and large audiences. I update the session every year based on advances in Novell technologies and products, to give the audience more comfort with approaching DNS on an Open Enterprise Server 2 platform. This year's edition has been updated to talk about DNS troubleshooting, running DNS on Open Enterprise Server 2 Linux, and gives more detail on the logical structure of DNS on the internet. As people's needs for DNS grow, they want more detail." In other news, KIS announced an expanded presence on the Brainshare show floor, including a reprise of last year's popular "mystery shopper" giveaway game. John Marciano, COO &Director of Sales, expressed his enthusiasm. "We're bringing our top account representatives to BrainShare, to better understand the needs of the Novell community, so that we can meet those needs in the coming year."
